The central challenge
A six-day round-trip to harvest thornroot for Tessa. The harvest leg asks the walker to tell thornroot from three lookalikes by leaf and root. The journey home is a recovery walk.
Thornroot has a four-pointed leaf and a root that smells of black pepper. Most walkers who go for thornroot come back with parsley. Tessa is patient about it. -- P
