Karth Veyl

The underground civilization that declined to sign.

Philosophy

Stone remembers promises longer than men. Trade with the surface; do not federate with it.

The Long Story

History

How They Fight

How They Live

Known Figures

  • The Doorman

  • Wen Hua

  • Merrow (deceased, Year –380)

  • Solomon of Aksum (deceased, Year –12)

Bonuses

  • +The Silent Seal can render contracts legally invisible to the Concord — useful for parties that need to keep agreements private from civic enforcement (per spell-the-sealed-quietness).
  • +Access to the Resonance Compass (held in the Lower Archive on loan from Mei Zhen's estate) — reveals current consecrated-practitioner counts across the seven hands.
  • +Access to Merrow's Deep Survey + Wen Hua's translation-in-progress of Burning of Wings, both at confidant-tier trust.
  • +Karth Veyl-friendly NPCs across the surface world (Bren the herbalist, Brother Anselm, Helonor) recognize the player by name once Wen Hua has counted them twice.

Weaknesses

  • Karth Veyl declined to sign the Concord at Year –282 and remains unsigned. The chair is kept for them. They have not sat down.
  • There is no named Speaker. Diplomatic instruments work but are passively maintained by Doormen and surface allies; nothing here is fast.
  • Surface visitors are admitted slowly. Wen Hua's three trust tiers — stranger, known, confidant — cannot be skipped. Players who attempt to hurry the relationship find it ends quickly.
  • Karth Veyl will not adjudicate between Vale and Tharazel. The convergence ritual is supported but not advocated.
