Dragon Cult Escapee

You were raised to feed dragons. You walked out anyway.

The Story

Your village's elders served a dragon you do not name. You learned its language before you learned to read. You left at fifteen, with a knife and a scar and a folded robe you have not burned. You know more about dragons than is comfortable. You also know less about ordinary life than is convenient. People sometimes notice both.

What This Means in Play

Each trait below will be rolled when you choose this background. The numbers below are the RANGE — the specific value is decided on your roll. Once committed, the values are yours for the life of the character. (Items, spells, and earned reputations can modify them later.)

  • Dragon-Tongue

You hear inflections in the wyrm-speech others miss. (+(rolled) Arcana when fighting dragons)

    Roll 1d3+1 · Range +2–4

  • Cultic Resistance to Fear

You were taught not to flinch from a dragon. (+(rolled) Resolve)

    Roll 1d3 · Range +1–3

  • Marked by the Cult

Some shopkeepers notice the scar and step back. (-(rolled) appraisal at lawful shops)

    Roll 1d2+1 · Range -2–3

  • Hidden Corruption

Something in you still wants what they wanted. Tracked separately.

    Roll 1d2 · Range +1–2

  • The Folded Robe

You did not burn it. It opens doors you would not yet walk through.

    Guaranteed (no roll)

You will roll the dice in the creation flow. Nothing is set until then.
