The Story
You came up in Caldera Notch under an aunt who measured time in ash-fall. You learned firecraft before you learned the alphabet. You can still light a wet stack of pine in driving rain. You can also taste the difference between three kinds of volcanic earth. You have never been to a real city; you are intensely curious about what it sounds like at night.
